About Clear Resin

Clear Resin is a transparent 405 nm photopolymer formulated for a special low-refractive-index base, delivering 92% light transmission for bubble-free clarity. Tensile strength runs 28–38 MPa with 14–18% elongation at break — tougher and more resilient than a typical clear resin. A triple defence system (anti-yellowing agent, UV absorber, antioxidant) keeps parts from ambering with age.

We print your Clear Resin parts at layer heights as fine as 0.05 mm on professional SLA machines. Transparency is maximised through a careful post-processing protocol: IPA wash, UV post-cure, and optional wet-sanding and polishing to near-optical finish. Its ~1.195 g/cm³ density and low viscosity ensure consistent fill of fine features.

Clear Resin is the choice for light guides, lenses, display covers, transparent enclosures, fluidic channel prototypes, and any part where visual transparency is a core requirement. It can also be used for casting masters where downstream transparency in the final material is needed.

Lenses & Optics Prototype lenses, optical covers, and light-focusing elements
Light Guides & Diffusers LED light pipes, illumination covers, diffuser panels
Transparent Enclosures Display cases, product housings, window panels
Fluidic Channels Microfluidic prototypes, flow visualisation, lab-on-chip models
Display & Packaging Mockups Transparent product demos, packaging prototypes, jewellery displays

Not sure if Clear Resin is right for your application?

Clear Resin is ideal when optical transparency is the requirement. For opaque display parts with fine detail, Standard Resin in grey is more forgiving. For functional clear-ish parts needing toughness, Tough Resin is available. For large clear parts, our FDM PETG service offers a cost-effective alternative.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fresh off the printer, Clear Resin parts have a translucent milky appearance. After IPA washing and UV post-cure, transparency improves significantly. For near-optical clarity, we wet-sand from 400 to 2000 grit and apply a clear coating — achieving a glass-like finish. Let us know in your order notes if you need maximum clarity post-processing.
Clear Resin is ideal for lenses, light pipes, LED diffusers, transparent product enclosures, microfluidic channel prototypes, display cases, and any part where light transmission or visual transparency is a functional requirement. It has the same mechanical properties as Standard Resin, so it is not suited for impact-prone applications.
Clear Resin is formulated separately from Standard Resin for optical performance — 92% light transmission, 28–38 MPa tensile strength, and a triple anti-yellowing defence system that Standard Resin does not need. The key difference is transparency: Clear Resin is formulated to maximise light transmission, while Standard Resin is pigmented grey for opacity. Choose Clear for transparency; choose Standard for opaque display parts.
Yes. We offer wet-sanding and polishing as an additional post-processing service. Starting at 400 grit through 2000 grit wet-sand, followed by a clear UV-resistant topcoat, parts can achieve near-optical transparency comparable to cast acrylic for many display applications. Contact us to include polishing in your order.
Our resin printers support a build volume of 210×118×220 mm. For larger transparent parts, we can split and bond using optically clear UV adhesive, maintaining transparency across joints with careful preparation. Contact us with your geometry and we will advise the best approach.
