How Dwart Industries Helped a BITS Pilani Rover Team Win 3rd at IRC 2025
Powering a Prize-Winning
Mars Rover with 3D Printing
3D printing for robotics India — that's what Dwart Industries delivered when CRISS Robotics came knocking. We sponsored the student space robotics club of BITS Pilani for the 2024–25 season, supplying custom FDM 3D-printed components that went directly onto their competition rover at the International Rover Design Challenge 2025. The result: a 3rd place finish on the world stage.

CRISS Robotics is BITS Pilani's student space robotics club — a 30+ member team of engineers who design and build a competition-grade Mars rover from scratch every year. They compete at the International Space Robotics Week (ISRW), billed as the world's largest space robotics event.
For the 2024–25 season, they approached Dwart Industries — a trusted name in 3D printing for robotics India — to be their manufacturing partner. Their rover needed custom FDM parts with tight tolerances, specific material properties, and fast turnaround — exactly what we do.

CRISS Robotics announced the partnership on Instagram, noting that Dwart's 3D printing for robotics India service directly enabled key rover systems:
Flexible TPU wheels designed to grip simulated Mars terrain — sand, gravel, and rocky inclines. Custom tread pattern for maximum traction.
FDM · TPUPrecision cycloidal drive component for the rover's robotic arm — demanding tight tolerances and consistent layer adhesion throughout the print.
FDM · PLA+Lightweight structural arm for the rover's drone deployment payload — printed to exact spec for integration into the modular payload bay.
FDM · Hyper ABSDrive gearbox enclosure for the rover's locomotion system — accurate dimensional fit required for proper gear meshing and load transfer.

2024
CRISS Robotics and Dwart Industries finalise the manufacturing partnership. Dwart branding placed on the rover, team jerseys, and event banners.
2024
TPU wheels, cycloidal upper, drone arm, and gearbox housing printed and dispatched pan-India to BITS Pilani campus ahead of competition prep.
2025
International Space Robotics Week kicks off. Dwart-printed parts installed on the rover and ready to compete against international teams.
2025
CRISS Robotics finishes 3rd at the International Rover Design Challenge 2025, claiming the 2nd Runner Up trophy at the award ceremony.
